Round 3 of THE Free Hockey Tournament

What: 4-on-4 Ball Hockey Tournament

Once again we are hosting a FREE roller hockey tournament.  This time it will be different.  Rather than doing Iron Man games there will be line changes.  Four teams with 6-skater rosters will play 2 round-robin games to determine seeding in a double elimination tournament.  Games will be 16-minute running clock games.  Penalties will result in a penalty shot.

When: Sunday November 15th starting at 10:30 am.

Weather may play a factor in the middle of November, but as long as the surface is in playing condition we will skate.

Where: Dodge Park

Registration:

Register by emailing us at OhioRollerHockeyCoOp@gmail.com.  Include your team name and names of players on your roster.  Your registration will be confirmed by email.  If you don’t have a team but want to play email me and I will see about getting you on a team.

Additional Details:

We will have tents set up and a place for you to sit between games.  We are planning to have a generator, music and a scoreboard once again.  Water will be available too.  If we get colder weather we will bring a propane heater as well.

Referees and Scorekeepers:

Wanting to keep these tournaments free means asking for volunteers.  If you can referee or keep score while your team is not playing please let me know.  We are hoping to have 2 referees for each game, but that will depend on volunteers.  Also, remember when you are playing that referees are volunteers, be nice to them.

With the weather starting to turn toward winter this will likely be the last tournament of the year.  We may host some “flash” drop-ins if the weather is nice on a certain day.  Join the group on Facebook or follow me on Twitter for updates when these might happen.

Thanks Everyone!

Once again we had a blast getting together for some roller hockey.  The weather cooperated and gave us a beautiful (not too hot) day to skate.  Thank yous go out to all that came out and played.  Special thanks to Brian Jack who brought out his magic trailer of goodies that included pop-up tents, a generator for power, a sound system for music, chairs…the list goes on and on.  How much stuff can you fit in that thing, I think Jimmy Hoffa may be in there somewhere.  Last, but not at all least, thank you Tony Brodie for the SCOREBOARD!  It was awesome, thanks again.  Hope Brian got it back to you in one piece.

The Hockey:

Many new faces came out for this tournament. Parity ruled with no one winning by more than 2 goals. Several games, including the semi-finals went to shootouts!  With three teams we conducted round robin play, concluding with a double elimination tournament. The Bowhunters played in 6 games and took home the hardware.

Champions

Congratulations to Chad Hammond and his team.

We look forward to doing this again soon, most likely in November (weather permitting).

THE Free 2 – September 27th

Updated 9/22/15

It was so much fun the first time, we are doing it again.

What: 4-on-4, Iron Man, Ball Hockey Tournament

Format will be determined by the number of teams that join.  At present we will not have enough teams to split into two divisions.  If we only have 4 teams we may do a round-robin style tournament with a minimum of 3 games per team.  With more than 4 teams we will stick to the double elimination format.

When: September 27th starting at 10:30 am.

Start time will ultimately be determined by the number of teams that register.

Where: Dodge Park

Registration:

Register by emailing us at OhioRollerHockeyCoOp@gmail.com.  Include your team name and names of players on your roster.  Your registration will be confirmed by email.

Scoreboard:

We received feedback about time keeping.  Knowing that it is less than ideal to keep the time at the scores table without it being displayed anywhere we are open to better suggestions.  The goal is to purchase a scoreboard, but it is cost prohibitive without charging an entry fee.  Alternatively, we are going to start fundraising in order to buy a scoreboard for use in these tournaments.  If you want to donate any amount you can do so via PayPal (thomastownsend@hotmail.com).

I look forward to skating with all of you once again.
