Ohio Roller Hockey May Tournament Results

Tournament number 2 of the seasons started much like the first. There was rain the night before and we found the rink mildly submerged (at least in the corner boards). But with only an hour delay we began the tournament.

Rec division was up first. The Dales looked to be on their way to defend their title.  However, The Plague avenged their championship game loss in the April tournament, handing The Dales their first loss in 2 tournaments. Byrne Outs took the second semi-final with a 1 – 0 victory over FortyFour7Hockey.com and then the final by a score of 2 – 0 over The Plague. Byrne Outs finished the tournament on a 3 game shut out streak and only gave up 2 goals over their entire 5 game tournament. Congratulations to Ernie Cox and the Byrne Outs.

In the competitive division newcomers Spider Pigs (comprised of some familiar faces from the CORH days) looked impressive during the round robin division winning all their games and securing the #2 seed. Bowhunters also went undefeated and by virtue of a tie breaker took the #1 seed. Rising from the #3 seed Tuttle Park All Stars (defending tournament champs) knocked off Spider Pigs, but could not defeat well rested Bowhunters. In their 3rd consecutive game Tuttle Park All Stars fell 4 – 0 in the final. Congratulations to Caleb Smith and the Bowhunters.

Next up for Ohio Roller Hockey: The League starting no June 3rd.
