Thank you to all the players who came out for the first Ohio Roller Hockey event of 2017. It was a wonderful success despite some weather issues that mildly disrupted the tournament. This was our largest turnout yet as twelve teams competed in two division.
Four recreational teams faced off in the morning. This division had an extreme amount of parity as 5 of the 9 games ended regulation time in a tie and both of the semi-final games were decided by shootouts. In the end Ryan Bonnell and Tyler Vorst let The Dales to victory with an undefeated record of 3-0-2. The Plague gave them all they had but came up short 2-1 in the final. Congratulations to The Dales as they claimed the Recreational Division Championship. Here are links to the Recreational Division Final Standings and Final Stats.
A tournament field of 8 teams including some familiar faces, new teams and the return of the Tuttle Park group competed in the afternoon. Worms and Blazing Js made their first appearance in an Ohio Roller Hockey event. Welcome to both teams.
After not facing each other in the round robin schedule, Tuttle Park All Stars and Worms were the top two seeds moving into the elimination round. Neither faltered and the showdown was set for the Championship game with neither team having lost a game. In what seemed to be a battle between Andrew Telfer (Tuttle Park) and Ryan Williamson (Worms), Matt Hannon stole the show scoring a hat trick and adding an assist. Tuttle Park took the competitive division championship 6 – 2. Congratulations to Tuttle Park All Stars Champions of the Competitive Division.
